Urbanization & Agriculture

Description

Grade 7Social StudiesEnglish

This resource explores changes in western Canadian agriculture, beginning with the establishment of farms and continuing with the role of immigration and technology, in the context of issues related to urbanization, land use and future trends. As farming communities disappear and technology changes the direction of the industry, questions about the future of farming arise. Students are asked to complete their research by drawing their own conclusions about decisions that they think may influence the future of farming in western Canada.
